Rule 9.43 Life Jackets and Buoyancy Aids

a. All members taking part in water activities (excluding scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing, swimming and paddling (as defined in rule 9.49)) must wear an EC approved buoyancy aid or lifejacket appropriate to the activity, weather conditions, size or the participant. This does not apply when below decks. Further guidance can be found in FS120603 Water Safety (incorporating Lifejackets and Buoyancy Aids).

b. The person in charge of any water activity must ensure that the lifejackets and buoyancy aids being used are fit for purpose and suitable for the activity on each occasion that it is used.
