Our current UK Chief Commissioner

Tim Kidd

Tim first joined Scouting as a Cub. He undertook his leadership training, and then took on many voluntary roles, including Scout Leader, Assistant County Commissioner (Scouts), District Commissioner and County Commissioner.

Tim has worked mainly with the Scouts section, and still helps locally at events for Scouts and Beavers in his home County of Oxfordshire. Tim was also the UK Commissioner for Adult Support for four years, and is passionate about ensuring that The Scout Association does the best to support and enable leaders, supporters and Commissioners.

Tim’s primary aim as UK Chief Commissioner is to lead the national team to ensure that Scouting across the UK meets our strategic vision – Skills for Life. This is all about providing Scouting to even more young people, and to help change lives. The details of Skills for Life can be found here.

As UK Chief Commissioner, Tim is also a trustee of The Scout Association. Details of the Trustee Board can be found here.

In his professional life, Tim leads the team that provides internet and many other services to the academic and research community in the UK. Tim works for a not-for-profit company which is part of the Jisc Group - a charity that champions the use of digital technology in UK education and research.
